Compressional Acoustic Slowness (AC_COMP) |
This is the name of a log measured along a well bore (a well-log). The code AC_COMP is a unique identifier to recognize this particular log and can be found in any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The official name for this log is 'Compressional Acoustic Slowness'. The business value of this log is often deamed high. Use this log to investigate the time it takes for a compressional wave to traverse a fixed distance; reciprocal of Compressional Velocity. In general this is a measurement of the interval transit time (The travel time of a wave over a unit distance, hence the reciprocal of wave velocity).This log usually has the unit 'Acoustic Slowness'. This is the time interval per unit length, Delta-T, necessary to attenuate a traveling acoustic wave. Applies to all types of Delta-T: Compressional, Shear and Stoneley.
