CDN Shock Rate, over 50g (SHK2_CDN)

This is a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You could have found the code SHK2_CDN in your log evaluation software or your corporate datastores. The official name for this log is 'CDN Shock Rate, over 50g'. Usage of this log is not high and encountering it is a rare occasion.

This log can be used to evaluate the measure of shocks or vibrations above some threshold per unit of time; used to quantify vibration severity for MWD/LWD tools. At a higher level, this can be seen as a measure of the frequency (The repetition rate of a periodic waveform. The inverse of period).

This log usually has the unit 'Count Rate'. This is the number of events per unit time; e.g. the output of a scintillation counters.

Data from this log can be used to investigate the shock rate of the tool. A similar log might be: ARC Average Tool Shocks (ATSK).
