CDN Shock Rate, over 200g (SHK1_CDN) |
This is an abbreviation for a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You might have encountered this acronym SHK1_CDN in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. CDN Shock Rate, over 200g is the offical name for this log. This log is not often acquired after (or during) drilling a well. This log displays readings of the measure of shocks or vibrations above some threshold per unit of time; used to quantify vibration severity for MWD/LWD tools. At a more general level these values are measures of the frequency (The repetition rate of a periodic waveform. The inverse of period). This log usually has the unit 'Count Rate'. This is the number of events per unit time; e.g. the output of a scintillation counters. Data from this log can be used to investigate the shock rate of the tool. A similar log might be: ARC Average Tool Shocks (ATSK).
