Smoothed Density Formation Exposure Time (SFXS)

This is an abbreviation for a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You might have encountered this acronym SFXS in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The code stands for 'Smoothed Density Formation Exposure Time'. This log is often used in the industry.

This log can be used to evaluate the density of data samples per length of borehole traversed, for a bulk density logging measurement.

Furthermore, this can be explained by looking at the mwd data density. This is a measure of the density of data samples per length of borehole traversed; may be expressed as samples per unit length or as a Boolean indicator of sample presence within a depth frame.

So basically this is a measure of the density (mass per unit volume) of a material. Usually at Standard conditions (STP). Also used to indicate the frequency of occurrence.

This log usually has the unit 'Time (hour)'.

Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a density logging technique and can be used to investigate the density of the formation. Similar logs are listed below:
