Synthetic focused medium resistivity (SFR3)

This is an acronym for a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You might have encountered this acronym SFR3 in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The official name for this log is 'Synthetic focused medium resistivity'. This log is often used in the industry.

Use this log to investigate the resistivity, measured by a laterolog (or guard log) resistivity device, which represents a measurement made approximately two to three feet into the formation.

Concluding, this is a measure of the resistivity which represents a measurement made approximately two to three feet into the formation; generally considered to measure the formation where it contain fluids which are a mixture of mud filtrate, connate water and possibly hydrocarbons.
