Smoothed Far Detector Only Bulk Density (SFBD)

This is a log of measurements along a well bore (a well-log). The code SFBD is a unique identifier to recognize this particular log and can be found in any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The official name for this log is 'Smoothed Far Detector Only Bulk Density'. Usage of this log is not high and encountering it is a rare occasion.

The values of this log represent the density of bulk material, including any void space or other materials contained in the subject volume. In well logging, it is the density of the rock, including fluid-filled pore space, as measured with a "Gamma-Gamma" type logging device.

This log usually has the unit 'Density'. This is the density (mass per unit volume) of a material. Usually at Standard conditions (STP). Also used to indicate the frequency of occurrence.

Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a density logging technique and can be used to investigate the density of the formation. Similar logs are listed below:
