1 inch lateral resistivity (RLML)
This is a well log used in the oil and gas industry. You could find this abbreviation RLML in your log evaluation software or any (ASCII) log files provided by the logging company. The acronym stands for '1 inch lateral resistivity'. The business value of this log is often deamed high. This log displays readings of the resistivity measurement using a "lateral" electrode arrangement with a very shallow investigation radius (1-2 inches into the formation).
So basically this is a measure of the measurement of the resistivity of the formation within the first few inches of the borehole wall. This log usually has the unit 'Resistivity'. This is the property of a material which resists the flow of electrical current. The ratio of electric-field intensity to current density. The reciprocal of conductivity.
Data for this log is produced by a tool that uses a lateral logging technique and can be used to investigate the resistivity of the formation.
